Face Lift

A face lift, also called rhytidectomy, is a surgical procedure that lifts the skin and underlying facial tissue to create a more youthful appearance.

Overview

Over time, the skin on the face tends to loosen with age, which gradually forms wrinkles around the eyelids, forehead and mouth. In some cases, pouches and jowls develop along the jawline, and extra folds form over the front part of the neck, forming a double chin. Doctor, work with patients to tighten and lift drooping skin with a surgical face lift. Men and women with excess skin and a loss of volume in the mid-face seeking a younger and smoother facial appearance are good candidates for facelift surgery.

During The Surgery

In order to create the most natural-looking results possible, We make incisions within the hairline and above the ear, extending around the lobe and ending below the hairline behind the ear. During the surgery, the tissue layers are tightened, the facial skin is re-draped and lifted, and the excess skin is removed. In some cases, fat grafting is recommended to restore volume fullness, contour and definition. The standard facelift procedure takes 3 to 4 hours, and is done  under general anesthesia.

Surgical Variations

We perform a standard facelift as well as a modified version called the short-scar facelift. The short-scar facelift has the advantage of avoiding a scar behind the ear. However, not all patients are candidates for the short-scar facelift. A comprehensive evaluation done by We will determine the most suitable facelift technique for each patient.

Recovery

This surgery, while more complicated, produces results that are more dramatic and longer lasting. The technique involves manipulating a group of muscles beneath the skin known as the superficial musculo-aponeurotic system (SMAS). This section of muscle controls facial expression. An incision is made along the hairline from the temple to just behind the earlobe. The skin is then separated and lifted. The underlying muscles and tissue are tightened and secured so they maintain their new position.

Facelift FAQ

Final Results?

The results of the surgery will begin to appear several months after the procedure. Typically, the swelling is gone after 2 months. We recommend the special  masques to help reduce the post-operative swelling and bruising. With the mask, results will appear faster after surgery.

Can I Wear Makeup ?

We recommend our patients should wait 2 weeks after surgery before light makeup can be applied.

Can I Combine Surgeries ?

Yes. The most common procedures combined with a facelift are other face procedures such as eyelid surgery, brow lift and facial fat grafting. Combining facial procedures is typical because it is ideal to perform total facial rejuvenation at one time to obtain the optimal aesthetic result.

Will It Hurt ?

The discomfort of face lift is usually very well tolerated. Most patients require pain medication for the first 3-5 days. Along with the discomfort of surgery, patients tire easily from keeping their heads elevated.
