Vaginoplasty (Internal Section)

Vaginal tissues lose their elasticity with births and age. As a result, an enlargement of the vaginal canal occurs.

What is The Reason For The Enlargement of The Vaginal Canal?

The most important reason for enlargement in the vaginal canal is normal births. As the number of births increases, the rate of relaxation and expansion increases.

In addition, genetic causes, excessive weight gain, dramatic weight loss, pregnancy, advanced age and menopause also cause sagging in the muscles in the vaginal wall, leading to enlargement and relaxation in the vagina.

 Why is Vaginoplasty Surgery Needed?

Enlargement of the vagina can cause sexual problems for both the woman and her partner. Men and women may not get enough sexual pleasure due to an enlarged vagina.

In addition, the width may cause discomfort from the vagina during intercourse, causing discomfort to the couple. In this case, the woman may experience loss of self-confidence.

Sometimes, due to the laxity of the muscles in the vagina, adverse conditions such as urinary incontinence and sagging down in the organs (bladder, large intestine) may also occur.

How is a Vaginoplasty (Internal Section) Operation Performed?

Vaginoplasty operations can be performed with general anesthesia or epidural anesthesia.

During the procedure, some of the vagina is removed from the posterior wall, the relaxed muscles in the vaginal wall are tightened and reinforced, and finally the cut edges are stitched together with melted stitches.

Thus, a strong pelvic floor and a narrower vaginal canal diameter are obtained. The operation takes about 60 minutes.

Sometimes labioplasty, which is an inner lip reduction operation, is performed with vaginoplasty. In this case, the operation time is a little longer.

What are The Risks of Vaginoplasty Surgery?

Bleeding, infection and scarring, which we call scar, can also be seen in vaginoplasty surgery. The risk of infection is minimized with the use of antibiotics after surgery.

What Should be Considered After The Operation?

Spotting, pain, and swelling often occur within the first few days after vaginoplasty surgery. Pain medications for pain and ice application are recommended to reduce swelling.

After the operation, normal daily activities can be resumed on the second or third day. Since self-melting stitches are used in the surgery, there is no need to remove stitches.

It is not recommended for patients to have sexual intercourse for 4 to 6 weeks, to use tampons or to perform a similar application that can penetrate into the vagina. Otherwise, relaxation may occur in the vaginal canal again.

Can She Give Birth in a Normal Way After Vaginoplasty?

Vaginoplasty does not interfere with normal delivery. But normal birth will cause relaxation in the vagina again.
